Laundry Symbols Got You Stressed Out??

laundry care laundry symbols wash n dry

How many times do you just turn your clothes inside out, wash in cold, and hope for the best? of coursed after you debated whether you should dry for a few minutes or not at all...

I mean have you ever tried to read all those tiny hieroglyphics on the tag of your clothes? Not to mention the actual letters?? This is meant to help us, but I don't feel helped when I try to read that little tag on my cute new shirt. You know that cute little shirt that's not just made of cotton or meant to be washed in whatever...which I'm sure my Mom told me to do something special at one point, but I probably wasn't listening to that either!

Well mom, grandma, and even that friend that "hangs all her laundry" aren't coming over to do my laundry. And before I ruin all my favorites and shrink them to Barbie size I better figure this out! So I googled and right away was overwhelmed by the amount of symbols that even existed. And don't just try to google one symbol... cuz you won't know what to call it! Bowl of water? Bowl of waves? Vintage Iron sign? Crossed out triangle? You'll be there while and learn nothing!!

I even saw that Wikipedia has en entire page on what these little symbols are!
Wikipedia starts explaining... "A laundry symbol, also called a care symbol, is a pictogram which represents a method of washing, for example drying, dry-cleaning and ironing clothing. Such symbols are written on labels, known as care labels or care tags, attached to clothing to indicate how a particular item should best be cleaned." Really? A care symbol or a care tag, do they care I can't read them?

So after some painful research I made a cheat sheet of symbols to hang in my laundry room... right by the washer! Now I can look and see what section these pesky symbols are in like Washing, Drying, Ironing, or Bleaching, and see exactly what to do for the best care of my clothes! My hour of research pain has paid off for many years to come!

Hopefully this Laundry Symbols Explained cheat sheet helps you! Print it out, hang by the washer, and keep your clothes staying nicer longer!
